Festival to promote education investment

The 2nd HCM City Education Development Festival will showcase advanced schooling models in Viet Nam and abroad and promote investment in education. The four-day event would be larger than last year since the city Department of Education would co-ordinate with various Ministry of Education agencies to organise it, Huynh Cong Minh, director of the former, said. "The event will encourage renovation of the education system and seek investment from international organisations," Minh told the media yesterday, April 7. Representatives from various departments and agencies would participate in an investment promotion forum, he added. Text books and learning aids will be on sale at the exhibition which will also provide students and their parents information about overseas educational institutions. At a forum titled "Library is the heart of the school" to highlight the essential role of libraries at schools and encourage reading among students, visitors can hold exchanges with popular children's writers and poets. More than 300 domestic and international education promotion organisations and suppliers of school equipment and text books have registered to participate. It will be held from June 24 to 27 at the Phu Tho Gymnasium in District 11. The first exhibition last year attracted nearly 10,000 visitors, including managers of educational institutions and agencies in neighbouring provinces and cities, suppliers of school equipment and services, students, and others.
